The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe (MCT) represents six of the seven Ojibwe tribes in Minnesota. One of their focuses is on training. The existing trainers have relationships with the MCT and the MCT has the
infrastructure in place to be able to support a Train the Trainers, and to provide the trainings. The
existing trainers are not connected to any other agencies or nonprofits. No other Tribe has the capacity,
infrastructure, or experience to conduct these trainings.
Tribal members in Minnesota are struggling with mental health crises that result in higher rates of
suicide, drug abuse and disproportionate rates of involvement in involuntary systems such as corrections
and child protection. We also know that American Indian people don’t always receive services from tribal
programs, but rather from non-native agencies. It is important for mental health professionals in these
non-native agencies to understand the historical context of the tribes and connecting it to contemporary
clinical concepts in this training, in order to provide the best, culturally appropriate mental health
services possible. Total invoiced - $24,284.60

Good. We started this contract with the knowledge that no trainings had taken place since before the pandemic and it might be a challenge to get people together, and to start the trainings again. Part of the contract was completed - update of materials, and they were able to advertise and hold one training session. They billed for that work. Challenges were - Still a pandemic and some people do not want to go to 3 day in person training, advertising of training takes time, some people want virtual training now. Short amount of time (5 months) to complete training material update, train trainers, advertise, and get providers to training.
