Purpose:
To perform onsite inspections of electrical wiring installed by owners, contractors and employer for compliance with applicable safety standards as identified in Minnesota Statutes, section 326B.31 to 326B.399 and Minnesota Rule Chapter 3801
Necessity:
The Department of Labor and Industry is mandated to administer the provision of the Minnesota Electrical Act which includes inspection of new electrical installations in all areas of the state that have not adopted a local inspection ordinance. Generally, these inspections are performed as part of an overall construction project, requiring timeliness of inspection service to enable construction projects to continue without delays. Approximately 110,000 electrical inspections are performed annually by contract electrical inspectors.
