This work supports MDH’s aim of improving the care and management of diabetes in Minnesotans and specifically CDC 1817 Strategy A8: Increase use of clinical decision support within the Electronic Health Record to promote early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in people with diabetes. Rainbow Research will conduct video conference focus groups with 6-8 persons from 4 priority populations (including Latino, African American, and American Indian) to determine their knowledge of and attitudes toward Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), sources they use to find health-related information and translation needs. Focus group findings will be used to inform the development and delivery of CKD patient education messaging for the four populations.

The contractor completed the work on time. CDC and MDH approved additional time to needed to complete the work due to COVID public Health emergency restrictions.
Rainbow Research conducted effective focus groups, using their experience working with cultural communities across the state of MN to design, conduct, analyze, and disseminate findings from evaluations.
