Project 1007 Focused Investigations 1st Half 2021
{Empty}
AECOM will conduct Focused Investigations at three primary locations for the Project 1007 study. These will include: Eagle Point Lake (and its connection to Lake Elmo through Lake Elmo Park Reserve); Downstream of Lake Elmo (from Lake Elmo Avenue to the southern end of Horseshoe Lake); and West Lakeland Storage Ponds.
Phase I- Screening Level Investigation activities will include a synthesis of known surface water characteristics such as: water column depth, bottom materials, vegetation, inflow and outflow locations, stream channel morphology, and P1007 structural components. These activities will be conducted in each of the primary water bodies using a grid or coordinate system, including: Eagle Point Lake, Horseshoe Lake, and the three West Lakeland Storage Ponds.

Phase II-Focused Surface Water Investigations will use the data collected from the Phase I activities to identify targeted locations where flux is likely to be occurring and where additional measurement can be used to collect data to quantify vertical flux in the water body.

The data collected from the Focused Investigations will provide critical inputs to completing a robust and defensible groundwater-surface water model and the development of CSM that significantly advances the understanding of PFAS movement within the Project 1007 corridor. Drilling shallow wells (including piezometers) is also part of the focused investigation assessment work. The FY21 proposed subsurface work for this Work Plan includes the installation of 20 shallow (quaternary) wells and up to 75 piezometers as part of the initial focus investigations to be completed.
