Project 1007 Baseline Ecological Risk Assessment F
{Empty}
AECOM will perform a Baseline Ecological Risk Assessment (BERA) throughout the Project 1007 (P1007) corridor to evaluate risks to receptor populations via potentially complete exposure pathways. This will include ecological field sampling of biotic (tissue samples) and abiotic (surface water, pore water, sediment, foam) media. AECOM estimates that 124 tissue samples (fish, frogs, crayfish, etc.) and another 350 samples of surface water, sediment, pore water, and foam will be collected using various methodologies through the P1007 corridor as part of the BERA. All samples will be sent to an MPCA approved laboratory for per- and poly-fluorinated alkyl substance (PFAS) analysis. Total Organic Carbon (TOC) , Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC), and pH data will also be collected and submitted to a local approved laboratory for analysis.

AECOM will prepare a BERA summary report, which will evaluate the available P1007 dataset (e.g., surface water, sediment, foam, pore water, and tissue collected under baseline and BERA-specific field efforts) in order to assess the potential for risks to lower trophic level receptors (e.g., benthic and aquatic invertebrates, fish) and to birds and mammals foraging in the waterways. The BERA will provide documentation of the risk analysis and characterization and will include a summary of assumptions, uncertainties, strengths and weaknesses of the analysis phase of work, and justification of conclusions regarding the ecological significance of the estimated (i.e., risk of harm) or actual (i.e., evidence of harm) risks.
