Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: Provide enhancements to the Accumulated Winter Season Severity Index (AWSSI), which can be viewed at http://mrcc.isws.illinois.edu/research/awssi/indexAwssi.jsp. These enhancements will cover four primary areas:
1) Add more stations to the AWSSI Tool: Candidate stations will be evaluated in each of the 36 Clear Roads states.
Evaluating for both historical and current data availability, one station in each state will be added to the AWSSI tool
(assuming a station with sufficient data can be determined).
2. Update the average AWSSI seasonal total map through 2019-2020 season: A new updated seasonal AWSSI average will be
produced to cover the seasons from 1980-81 through 2019-2020.
3. Download of current season daily values: Add the ability to download the daily seasonal data for any given station during
the current season. The user will be able to download a file showing the daily values for the current AWSSI season.
4. User-selected historical seasons added to current season chart: Add the ability to select up to 5 specific historical
seasons (user-selected), to be added to any station’s current year chart
