Animal Health Board
University of MN Veterinary Diagnostics Lab

CWD IHC Testing Services
N/A
A statutory responsibility of the Board is to protect the health of the domestic animals of the state, and the Board has the statutory authority to work with the Governor on movement restrictions during a disastrous animal disease outbreak. Minnesota has Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in both wild and farmed cervid populations. The Board required professional laboratory services in order to conduct CWD immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing on farmed cervidae samples. An accredited laboratory is required for CWD testing for state and national programs, and the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Lab (UMN VDL) is the only accredited veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the state of Minnesota.

I am pleased with the overall performance with the exception of a delay in testing that occurred
as a result of an equipment issue. Testing was delayed when the equipment could not be repaired in
a timely fashion. Contractor had to forward samples to an another accredited, out-of-state lab in order to complete testing during this period of time.
The contractor's quality aligns with the national standards.
The cost is reasonable.
The contractor's overall performance was good with the exception of the delay in results due to
the above-mentioned equipment issue.
