The State was in need of Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (“LETRS”) Facilitator Training to help further develop skills of teachers, administrators and professors to master the fundamentals of reading instruction, including but not limited to phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing and language. Such training and professional development are intended to improve academic performance and outcome for students who struggle with reading proficiency and/or dyslexia.
