A statutory responsibility of the Board is to protect the health of the domestic animals of the state, which the Board does in part by preventing, detecting, and controlling animal diseases, including poultry diseases. The Contractor provided professional veterinary laboratory services for avian diagnostic testing, specific to the standards of the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) and the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN). These standards are required in order to conduct the official, accredited testing needed under this contract.
