Estimation of Winter Snow Operation Performance Me
99008w46
The capability to accurately and reliably estimate the performance of winter maintenance activities is of critical importance in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of MnDOT operations. The phase 1 of this research has developed a prototype computer procedure that can be used to estimate the durations of roadway/traffic recovery periods for each snow route using the traffic flow data being collected at the traffic management center. The procedure has been tested at the selected routes using historical data set. The proposed research, Phase 2, will expand the phase 1 results to the entire metro freeway network and develop a comprehensive computer system that can automatically generate the required measures for given snow routes and events.
