Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Steering Committee agreed that providing support to schools implementing the curriculum was a high priority for the Safe Routes to School State Program. The most-preferred methods of supporting the schools included holding 8-12 teacher trainings around the state, providing school districts with funds for bike fleets to use in the classroom, promoting the Walk! Bike! Fun! curriculum to school boards and other community groups around Minnesota, evaluating the curriculum, and recommending future updates. This work will encompass these and other methods to support the schools teaching the curriculum. Goals for this work include raising awareness of SRTS and an increase in statewide SRTS program participation. Results of this work will help improve the Walk! Bike! Fun! curriculum for future years. MnDOT does not have the staff or expertise to conduct this work.
