Use Of Equipment Lighting During Snowplow Operatio
99006w08
The goal of this project is to develop a summary of best practices in use today by state DOTs in their use of headlights, work lights, and warning light technology in snow plow operations. The summary would include recommendations regarding the various lighting technologies in use, including mounting location guidelines. The primary focus of the project is on information to be used by state and local agencies to provide guidance for purchasing and installing an optimal configuration of lighting for single and tandem axle plow trucks used for snow removal. The secondary focus of the project is on other equipment used for winter maintenance including, larger all-wheel drive dump trucks, light vehicles including pickup trucks and off-road equipment including end loaders, motor graders and snow blowers.
