Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: As the use of whitetopping (concrete overlays of existing asphalt pavements) as a pavement preservation option gains popularity in Minnesota, there is a need to more fully understand their performance lives and costs. This project provides assistance, via field measurements, toward the characterization and measurement of the performance of 20 existing projects built throughout Minnesota in the past two decades. Using the data collected in this project, MnDOT researchers will develop case histories and performance prediction curves for whitetoppings in Minnesota.
