TRS: Managing Atypical (Ancillary) Pavements
1000885
The TRS will be aimed at documenting research and best practices for management (including inventory and condition tracking) of ancillary pavements. TRS on Best Practices for Managing Atypical (Ancillary) Pavements. These are defined as pavements that are not part of main roadways; for example, shoulders, ramps, turn lanes, frontage roads, cross-over pavements, rest areas and weigh stations. MnDOT is interested in a literature search covering related federal guidelines for managing these assets (including inventory and condition tracking) and existing practices of other states, large cities and metropolitan areas, and a few international sources. MnDOT would also like a focused effort to interview up to a dozen agencies that have effective management practices for ancillary pavements. The interviews would be aimed at getting details and documentation on the practices and their effectiveness.
