Bituminous Plant Inspection for SP 2508-31 and SP

The State contracted with Braun Intertec Corporation to provide bituminous plant monitoring services and project documentation for construction of SP 2508-31 and SP 2508-32 on Trunk Highway (TH) 56, respectively. SP 2508-31 spans approximately 17.0 miles from Trondheim Road in the city of Kenyon to Cannon River near the city of Randolph. SP 2508-32 spans approximately 0.7 miles from junction of TH 60 in Kenyon to Trondheim Road. The construction work tasks included bituminous mill and overlay and all necessary, associated improvements on SP 2508-32 and Full Depth Reclamation with Emulsion (FDRE) of the existing pavement on TH 56 under SP 2508-31. Therefore, the Contractor performed construction materials quality assurance (QA) testing and documentation on the FDRE work. The QA testing on this FDRE project consisted of nuclear density, proctor density, and field gradation testing. The Contractor provided all services under the supervision of a registered professional engineer.
