Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: The work on S.P. 5811-12 (T.H. 70) from R.P. 20+00.120 to R.P. 29+00.341 includes final design plans for milling, bituminous pavement reclamation, and bituminous surfacing. Approximately 3.7 miles of construction will be done under traffic with the remaining length under a detour for a majority of the construction. Safety improvements include turn lanes, profile grade corrections at four locations (approximately 2.7 miles total), and guardrail construction. Other project design elements include replacement/repair of culverts (recommendations provided by District personnel), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), signing, striping and traffic and detour staging. Contractor deliverables will include project management, utility coordination, detail design plans, special provisions, and construction cost estimates.
