A Comprehensive System for Assessing Truck Parking
99008W24
This project addresses parking space information needs identified in various topical studies. The specific operational concept and proposed corridor location is a recommended strategy for improving truck parking availability (MnDOT Truck Parking Study Phase 2 May, 2010) including a recent MnDOT truck parking study (May 201 0) and is also listed as a proposed implementation project in the Minnesota Statewide Regional Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Architecture (Volume 9, May 2009). The project provides the ideal system components recommended by University of Virginia (UVA) researchers: vision systems for specific-space data collection and Variable Message Signs (VMS) and web information systems for data distribution.
