American Indian Home/School Liaison Professional

The purpose of this interagency agreement is to plan and coordinate the logistics of professional development training that is provided to Indian Home/School Liaisons (IHSL) around Minnesota and to also provide training to American Indian parents. MDE entered into this agreement with FDLTCC for two main reasons: MDE has limited staff capacity to handle all of the logistics that are involved in planning multiple professional development events for 80-100 people in school districts around the state. This includes maintaining mailing lists, finding appropriate conference space, handling registration and other similar details. As a tribal college, FDLTCC also has cultural competency that is not available at MDE which has a very small Office of Indian Education.
