Historian Services for Oslo Bridge Final Plan Deve
4771
MnDOT and the North Dakota DOT planned to rehabilitate the Oslo Bridge (MN Bridge 9100) between Oslo, MN, and Walshville Twp., ND. Because the project will use FHWA funds, it must comply with applicable federal laws, including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations. As the bridge is considered a historic property under Section 106, the State retained the services of a qualified historian to provide assistance during the process of developing rehabilitation plans and assistance as needed during construction to ensure compliance with Section 106. The ND DOT is reconsidering whether the bridge will be rehabilitated or replaced and the project was put on hold so not all the work proposed under the contract could be carried out.

Contractor’s work was completed in a timely manner.
Contractor provides very high quality work.
Contractor’s costs are very reasonable given the quality of the work and effort.
Not all work under the contract could be completed as MnDOT and ND DOT are in the process of determining whether or not the bridge will be rehabilitated as planned or will be replaced with a new bridge. What work the contractor did perform was excellent overall.
