Assistance was required in developing Systems Engineering for remote monitoring Rural Intersection Conflict Warning Systems (RICWS). Work also consisted of creating a general concept of operations to address a variety of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices, specific system requirements for RICWS, and a test plan for activation of remote monitoring for RICWS. The remote monitoring is primarily for operation and maintenance needs associated with RICWS.

The result of this project is a general concept of operations to address a variety of ITS devices, specific system requirements for RICWS, and a test plan for activation of remote monitoring for RICWS.

This contract was necessary to improve the operational effectiveness of the RICWS and other ITS deployments that are intended to improve the overall safety of Minnesota’s highway infrastructure. This project was directly tied to the Toward Zero Deaths initiative.
