Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: MnDOT plans to complete mill and concrete overlay along I-35E, from approximately the north side of the bridge over County Road E in Vadnais Heights, north to the Vadnais Heights/White Bear Lake border. The bridges on I-35E over Goose Lake Road and the BNSF Railroad are being completed as part of a different project. The final pavement height will be six inches higher than existing height; the increase in pavement height allows for the modification of existing drainage structures, including replacing or extending culverts. Stormwater ponds will also be added as part of this project. Work will be completed on existing right of way as well as property that will be acquired.
The purpose of this contract is to complete a limited Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and Phase II Investigation. The Phase II Investigation will be based on the results of the Phase I, including suspect areas in the current project area. The intent of this contract is to provide assistance to MnDOT in obtaining information on the existence, magnitude and extent of contaminated soil and groundwater contamination in the project corridor and for all properties that will be acquired for the project construction. This information will be used by MnDOT to determine final project design plans/specifications and to obtain liability protections, if necessary.
