Rolling Resistance of Pavement Surfaces
4796
In the continuing study of innovative concrete surfaces, the Pooled Fund TPF 5-(134) collaborators TxDOT, FHWA and MnDOT agreed to investigate the rolling resistance of the innovative surfaces as well as other surfaces in the MnROAD facility. This interest was predicated on the hypothesis that most of the diamond ground surfaces also exhibited low rolling resistance which meant that they would be comparatively low on fuel consumption. To evaluate the surfaces, MnDOT as Lead State contracted with MSU Mankato who retained the international expertise of Technical University of Gdansk Poland as sub-consultants to carry out the project. Project included, cost of shipment of test equipment, measurements in all the test cells, data analysis and report.
