The MDNR provides funds to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) as a cost share match to maintain twenty nine federally operated stream gages across the state critical to flood warning, water supply and natural resource protection, and to collect sediment samples from eleven streams and rivers to assist in evaluating water quality and land use changes in key watershed.
