The Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) is an initiative created by Congress to increase safety on our nation’s highways. The targeted, short-term program is accomplished by awarding contracts to qualified researchers/consultants.

In partnership with Contractor, State will conduct work and participate on a research team under the Strategic Highway Research Program to test SHRP 2 reliability data and analytical products. This will provide opportunities to strengthen the agency’s technological capabilities and remain at the forefront of new and innovative approaches.
Results of the work will be used to further the State’s technological capabilities, and leadership role in incorporating reliability performance measures into the Transportation Planning and Programming process. The results of the research conducted will directly advance the objectives of SHRP 2.

The Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) is an initiative created by Congress to increase safety on our nation’s highways. The targeted, short-term program is accomplished by awarding contracts to qualified researchers/consultants. The SHRP 2 RFP was widely advertised. SRF was the lone researcher/consultant that expressed any interest in submitting a proposal in partnership with MnDOT in response to the SHRP 2 RFP. Given MnDOT’s desire to further the agencies technological capabilities, and leadership role in incorporating reliability performance measures into the Transportation Planning and Programming Process, it made sense to partner with SRF on the proposal.
