Racking that holds geologic materials need replacement throughout two conjoined warehouse buildings at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Lands and Minerals Drill Core Library located in Hibbing, MN. Approximately 40,000 boxes of historic drill cores, 210,000 iron ore boxes, and 2,000 miscellaneous boxes and buckets are archived in a specific sequence on the shelves and a box inventory database needs to be constructed prior to moving materials. The DNR contracted up to two Conservation Corps members to assist in collecting data at the individual box level to create a database to help with the move, gather additional data during the move, and help to curate materials for this project.
